This one had to be seen to be believed.
And we still don’t believe it.
While Canadian Daniel Morad won the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge Chevrolet Detroit Sports Car Classic on the streets of Detroit on Saturday, the buzz was all about what could only be described as the most incredible hit and run in the history or racing.
At the very least it was cooler than anything we’ve seen on our morning commute.
Robert Megennis in a BMW M4 GT4 was racing hard to lap Rory van der Steur in the No. 19 van der Steur Aston Martin Vantage GT4 and barreling toward one of the few passing zones on the course when things went terribly awry.
The BMW went up and over the Aston Martin and landed on top of a tire barrier. In seconds, Megennis gathered himself, left the scene of the hit and run like nothing happened, and continued to the pits.
Both cars were badly damaged but were able to be driven back to the pits.
