WHAT IT ISÂ The Ram 1500 REV (Revolution Electric Vehicle) is a full-size electric pickup. The production truck is conservative compared with the wilder Ram Revolution concept billed as the future direction for Ram trucks. The Revolution uses an adapted version of the Ram 1500’s crew cab with a 5-foot-7-inch box. It can carry 2,700 pounds and tow up to 14,000 pounds.
PLATFORM AND POWERTRAINÂ The REV rides on the new STLA Frame platform designed for body-on-frame electric vehicles. A choice of two battery packs will sit between the rails: a 168-kWh pack good for 350 miles of range and a 229-kWh pack good for 500 miles. The electrical architecture will operate at 400 volts with the battery split in two, allowing the halves to be wired in series for 350-kW charging at 800 volts. All-wheel drive comes from dual motors that each make 335 hp and 310 lb-ft of torque. Combined peak output is 654 hp and 610 lb-ft with the big battery, dipping to 628 hp with the standard battery.
