Spotted by CarBuzz, the trademark applies to “automobiles, pickup trucks, electric vehicles, sport utility vehicles, and their structural parts,” but what Ford the name is the most interesting part: “F-150 Flash.” It’s almost certainly not a tie-in to the recently released Flash movie featuring the DC Comics superhero, but instead it’s a clue that the high-performance version of the Lighting might be closing in on its debut. With the SuperVan racing up Pikes Peak and the Mustang Mach E 1400 giving regular demonstrations, the time to bring out the hot version of the Lightning EV pickup is now.
Unfortunately, the name is the only concrete thing about this hi-po pickup that the trademark patent gives up. There’s no hint to the Red Bull Racing’s involvement, nothing about how much power it might make, not even a hint as to how it will look. That said, considering the aforementioned demonstrator EVs above and taking some liberties, we’re got an inkling it will make at least 1,400 hp, sport aerodynamics never seen on a pickup before, and be a wild ride when it comes out. We can’t wait for it to drop; hopefully our prediction will be correct and this trademark won’t just be a “flash in the pan.”
