The one thing the platform won’t allow for is a two-door version of the GX. Tsukasaki said, “Of course I’d love to, but with the platform the way that it is right now, it’s probably four-door [only].” While that may disappoint some hardcore off-road fans, Lexus has its sights set on capturing the widest audience possible with the third-generation GX. The 2025 Mercedes-Benz EQG, a fully electric G-Wagen, is well on its way, and Lexus seems poised to bring the fight to the EV off-roader segment if buyers are interested.
