2024 Ford Bronco Sport Adds Bold New Flavors: Black-Out and Free Wheeling

It would seem Ford Bronco Sport fans are always late to the party on the custom and special edition versions of the popular compact SUV, so far lacking the popular dark appearance package available to other Ford model lines. The recent Black Diamond and Heritage models have seemingly done well, but fans want more. Now Ford is continuing the party for the 2024 model year with two more special Bronco Sports to keep things interesting. There’s a brand-new but retro-inspired Free Wheeling special edition (groovy!), and the Sport is catching up to the regular Bronco with the late addition of a black appearance pack, as well.

Starting in the mid-1970s, Ford attempted to appeal to the youthful crowd at the time with a series of colorful Bronco, F-100, and F-150 trucks with a new Free Wheeling special edition. The package included red, orange, and yellow stripes across the body with black-painted accents on the mirrors and bumpers on the exterior, and color-matched pinstriping and seat stitching on the interior.

Now the same can be said for the 2024 Ford Bronco Sport Free Wheeling Edition, which also gets reflective red, orange, yellow and silver graphics down the side of the body, on the liftgate, and covering the hood. It includes a special silver-painted grille, a modified lower front fascia design, and two-tone Bronco badging on the nose. The roof is finished in Shadow Black to match the gloss-black 17-inch wheels with red accents. Inside is Black Onyx and Dark Space Grey with “sunset-colored” seat inserts and special ombre stitching that extends to the door trim.

The available 2024 Ford Bronco Sport Black Appearance pack is separate from the Free Wheeling special edition, said to be inspired by the night skies of remote places. The package includes a carbon black grille insert with two-tone Bronco lettering, matte black 17-inch wheels, a Shadow Black painted roof, matte black hood decals, black trim and badging accents, and a smoked chrome Ford badge. For the interior, the package includes Sport Contour seats and a bucking bronco badge on the dashboard.

“Bronco Sport customers have been asking for the stylish black finishes available on the F-150, Maverick, and Mustang, and we’re delivering with the new Black Appearance Package,” said Jason Hyde, Bronco Sport Marketing Manager. “It also builds on the night sky gauge cluster graphics that Bronco Sport customers see that plays a startup screen featuring the Milky Way.”

The new Free Wheeling special edition Bronco Sport includes the Big Bend upgrade group, which features a rubberized cargo floor, push-button start, heated mirrors, and a second-row MOLLE strap and storage system, minus the overlapping upgrades with the package (like the custom wheels, grille, and roof color). The Black Appearance Package is also only available on Big Bend Bronco Sport models.
