- Nissan teases the upcoming Z Nismo with a Chris Forsberg drifting video.
- The video shows the Z Nismo will get a more aggressive body kit and some red lower body accents.
- Nissan says more details will come later this summer.
It’s hard to say we didn’t expect this, but the folks at Nissan are finally giving its new Z-car the Nismo treatment. The company is teasing the upcoming Z variant with a fitting, tire-shredding video of Formula Drift’s Chris Forsberg behind the wheel.
While it’s great to see that the upcoming Z Nismo can drift under the expertise of a Formula Drift champion’s hand, the company hasn’t released any actual information about the car. Nissan says more details are coming this summer. Though, considering the legacy of the Nismo name, you can expect some performance upgrades.
What we can see from the video is that the Z Nismo does get a slightly different body kit than a standard Z. The Nismo also adds a red accent stripe at the bottom of the car, which should let the world know you sprung for the Nismo.
You probably won’t see a major shakeup under the Z’s hood for the Nismo. Currently, the Nissan Z makes 400 hp and 350 lb-ft of torque from a turbocharged 3.0-liter V6. A small power bump could happen, but those details are still to be seen.
Like the possible extra power, there’s also potential for a price bump, assuming the Nismo will sit atop the Z’s hierarchy. Currently, the top Z will set you back $56,380. That means seeing a Nissan Z Nismo starting around $60,000 isn’t out of the question.
What do you think Nissan will do with this Z Nismo? Tell us your thoughts below.
