The show started off with Downey teaming up with Rich Benoit of Rich Rebuilds to convert his K10 truck (nicknamed the “Thanos Thumper”) to an EV powerful enough to tow heavy military equipment. This week’s first new episode explores how he can make his 1966 Buick Riviera into a hybrid but things don’t quite go to plan. In the next episode Benoit is once again tasked with performing an EV conversion on one of Downey’s classics: a 1965 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray that is 100 percent original. As you can imagine, there was some trepidation by Downey’s team and Benoit before car went under the knife.
More so, the challenge for Benoit is to make sure that the Stingray would be just as—if not more—powerful as it was before the conversion with a drag race set up to test the results. By the way, if you aren’t a purist about classic cars, Downey is offering up all the cars from the show in a sweepstakes that you can enter right now. Proceeds go to Downey’s non-profit Footprint Coalition organization. You can find out if the EV Corvette is up to snuff by watching the episodes streaming now on Max.
