When it was first revealed that Acura would be resurrecting the Integra nameplate, it sent the hardcore fans into a frenzy. Social media was ablaze with theories, hopes, and dreams. What would it look like? Will it have a turbo? Will the Type R come back? When Acura finally revealed the new Integra to the world the reaction varied wildly depending on what corner of reddit you dared to venture to. While some were excited to see the Integra come back as a sporty 4-door, others lamented those extra two doors and hoped for something closer to the DC2 Integra of the 1990s.
We weren’t shocked to see four doors on the Integra since it was quite clear that it would be based on the same platform as the current generation Honda Civic, which is only offered as a four-door hatchback. Some still held out hope that just maybe Acura would do something crazy and offer the Type S as a coupe.
With the 2024 Acura Integra Type S finally making its debut recently, we know that the smart money won and it kept all of its doors. Though, we’d be lying if we said we weren’t curious about what the new Integra Type S would have looked like had Acura thrown caution to the wind and made an entirely different coupe platform for the performance variant.
Thanks to talented automotive illustrator Jon Sibal, we don’t have to imagine what that alternate timeline would look like. Sibal cracked his knuckles and virtually redesigned the Acura Integra Type S as a coupe before posting it to Instagram. Sibal said that he was inspired by Fred Chang’s Acura RSX Type S which made the rounds back in the early 2000s. Check out the gallery of images:
Chang’s build inspired Sibal to apply his rendering with a gold hue and a set of RAYS Engineering CE28N wheels. While we’re totally comfortable accepting the reality in which we currently live, we have to admit that this multiverse Acura Integra Type S coupe looks damn good. Then again, we would expect nothing less from Sibal’s deft hand.
