The camper “house” portion of the TruckHouse BCR is an aerospace-grade single-piece carbon fiber-reinforced composite shell “crafted using the vacuum infusion process,” which is the fancy way of saying it’s a really nice camper that should last a long, long time, constructed in the same fashion as a yacht or airplane. The camper is mated to the truck via “a first of its kind carbon fiber reinforced torsion free mounting system,” which is the fancy way of saying the camper and truck meld together like peanut butter and jelly. A unique feature is the camper’s patent-pending HiPR Foils (High Pressure Reduction, “Hyper”), essentially air slits in the top front corners of the camper that improve aerodynamics by redirecting air through the curtains and down the side of the camper.
Plentiful flush-mounted dual-pane safari windows let the light in while keeping the cold and water out. We haven’t seen the inside yet, but the kitchen has an induction cooktop, convection oven/microwave, roomy sink, and a two-drawer fridge/freezer. There’s a U-shaped dinette at the rear, surrounded by 270 degrees of windows. Owners can choose from three toilet systems: cassette, dry flush, or composting. TruckHouse says the BCR can accommodate four adults (even ones that are six-foot six-inches tall) and that a sense of spaciousness is created through the BCR’s open floor plan.
The BCR is StarLink Mobility compatible, allowing for remote connectivity while stationary on on-the-go. A lithium battery bank powers the house system, managed through a solid-state digital switching platform.
The truck portion of the TruckHouse BCR is an AEV Prospector XL. Starting with a Ram 3500 cab-chassis truck (the camper takes the place of the bed), AEV massages the Ram to fit natural-looking 40-inch tires. (Fun fact: XL does not stand for “extra large,” but rather to the Roman numeral 40.) The company adds its stamped-steel front winch bumper, AEV DualSport 3-inch RT suspension lift, and other touches characteristic of its Prospector builds. Customers can choose between Cummins or Hemi engines and regular or crew cab configurations. A pass-through from the camper to the truck cab is optional.
The TruckHouse BCR can be pre-ordered now with a $10,000 refundable deposit, with builds coming in the Spring. We don’t have an exact price on this TruckHouse and AEV collaboration, but based on the $380,000 premium of the Tacoma-based BCT, expect to pony up a fat wad of cash.
