According to Aston’s announcement, the Lucid agreement is so far just a proposal. The deal would see Lucid’s hardware form the powertrain for Aston’s upcoming battery electric vehicle (BEV) platform, including battery and motor components. The platform can scale from SUVs down to tiny sports cars, and the tech will proliferate throughout the future Aston lineup if the deal goes through. According to Reuters, Lucid will get a 3.7 percent stake in the Aston brand, following Geely’s increased 17 percent stake, and Mercedes’ promised 20 percent stake in Aston.
